GECA strives to support its members by offering them someone to talk to and providing psychological support. Dealing with the disease is a demanding personal challenge that requires new resources and renewed energy.
Information is life, information is hope.
Over the years, the availability of leading experts in the field and the continuing active and constructive involvement of our families have allowed us to organise a number of educational initiatives in various areas of the country; meetings, conventions and formal and informal events constitute important opportunities for communicating the importance of prevention and spreading a culture of cooperation and sharing.
An autogenic training programme consists of between 10 and 12 90-minute weekly meetings. Each meeting consists of a part dedicated to practical exercises and a personal experience sharing part. In autogenic training, regularity, completeness and motivation are essential factors for achieving full effectiveness.
At GECA’s Padua headquarters, our members have the opportunity to exchange views with their doctors; depending on the needs, doubts and concerns of each one they can obtain advice from the doctors who work with our association and volunteer their help. Free consultations are provided at our headquarters on an appointment-only basis.
Our Chairwoman, Graziella Paola Marcon, a registered nurse who worked for years with Prof. Nava and his research team and more importantly still has a direct knowledge of arrhythmias, has always offered a 24-hour advisory service to meet to the emergency needs of our families. Paola provides immediate assistance with questions, doubts and concerns, by drawing on her personal and professional experience to offer appropriate advice or, when necessary, refer members to a competent physician.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is a first aid technique that can, in certain circumstances, be decisive in saving lives. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is part of the basic life support sequence.
